BISON RANCHING: Our move begins

It's been a hot minute since I have had time to sit down and put thoughts and happenings in a blog.

BUT....it is official! We have sold our East Tennessee farm and purchased a new place for the buffs to roam. Well, at least all transactions are under contract and our closing dates are set! By October 2nd, it will be completely official!

I will be sharing more details in social media posts, and while they will be brief, I want to give an update on where we are and what you can expect.

We are relocating from Tennessee to Kentucky. We've found a larger, more productive piece of ground that will better support the herd in the coming years. But, our decision to move to Kentucky goes beyond the grasses and forages. I think we have some pretty exciting research to share after we're resettled, and fact-based information that will prove unmatched within the "bison industry." It's certainly not information we have found explored by any other, and, we're excited to see its progression and development as we continue this conservation endeavor!

As for the intricate and meticulous, albeit chaotic and stressful (for me), move? We're attempting to document each step of the process so that we can share the experience with each of you via YouTube. Be warned! It may appear a hot mess at times, but, that's reality as we encroach on new frontiers.

Going forward, I have contemplated how our operation will produce, perform, and continue to serve our community with our products.

I've seen other Tennessee bison ranchers advertising their meat as "Tennessee Bison" -- knowing that these ranches regularly purchase animals nationwide, haul them in to "finish" on their ranches, and then harvest and sell them as "their" product. That's fine, but it's deceptive and demeaning to the effort we have put into producing our animals and your proteins!

When we finally share what our move entails and how it will further improve your experience with our buffs, I think (and pray) you, our customer and supporter, will be as excited as we are!

I know, I'm being a tease. However, I've learned that exposing plans before they are actions can be an inroad to imitation that will hurt our efforts. And, frankly, we've put everything into making all of the improvements happen ~ for us, for you, and especially for our herd!

Trust me, I'm not the best at keeping quiet when I'm excited! But, for now, and for the protection of our efforts....the "rest of the story" will have to wait!

Thanks for tagging along on this journey friends! The fun is just beginning as our bison ranching operation move begins!
